The 5 People You’ll Meet In The Cook-Out Line

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

Going to Cook-Out after a night out or for a night in on the weekends is a religious experience for college students. And having Cook-Out right next to campus allows for interesting instances with students and community members alike. Here are some of the kinds of people you can expect to see in the Cook-Out line on a Friday Night:

1. The “fries over guys” girls

Everyone knows situations in which two girls fought over one guy. There could be yelling or even just passive aggressive behavior when two women let a guy get in the way. However, in the Cook-Out line, these girls replace that attractive boy with the dreamy eyes of a tray of French fries. Clearly there are no physical altercations over fries, but these ladies are ready to battle it out with words when their friends eat one too many of their fries or cuts in line to order first.

2. That person who can’t deal with long lines

Everyone hates waiting in lines; even waiting in line for a disgusting, germ infested stadium bathroom is annoying. In terms of the Cook-Out line, though, most of us are willing to wait. Usually we wait because we don’t have cars and you can’t walk through the drive-thru, but either way those glorious trays are worth the wait. However, this person is too impatient for even that. They stand looking annoyed and complaining about the whole ordeal.

3. The “I’ll fight you for your spot in line” person

One step up from “the one who can’t deal with long lines,” this person, or even a friend of yours, can’t wait to get some of that greasy goodness that is Cook-Out. The line itself at Cook-Out is always a little jumbled and they’ll use that to their advantage. They will inch closer and closer on your side until they are in front of you, and before you know it they get their cheese quesadilla tray with two orders of fries before you do.

4. The girl who dropped her exact change in high heels

This girl has clearly been hitting up Sand Bar or anywhere downtown. She got all dressed up in her cutest heels and counted out the exact change she would need to get a Cook-Out tray at the end of the night; needless to say, she planned it all out. But after a little too much fun and a little too much time in those heels, balance has become an obstacle in her plans for a perfect night. Ultimately, she spends most of her time at Cook-Out trying to pick up quarters and dimes without falling over. She also loses her spot in line to those who are too impatient to wait for her to get herself together.

5. The guy who counts everything in Cook-Out trays

This person has been to Cook-Out too many times. They know how much everything on the menu is and are a pro at ordering. But Cook-Out has become too much of a vital part of their weekend. “Twenty dollars to get into Liquid Room?! That’s, like, almost four Cook-Out trays.”

At one point or another, we all run into these people in the Cook-Out line or we even become these people. We all love Cook-Out and can go a little crazy for it sometimes.
