Meet Ashley Kate Adams! Ashley Kate is a junior at UNCW from Kinston, NC. She is studying Elementary Education with a concentration in Behavioral Studies. She is involved in several organizations on campus and currently stands as a Seahawk Link, a member of Dance Company, and a mentor for the Education Learning Community. Ashley Kate never ceases to put her full effort into helping out those around her and deserves a big smile and wave if you see her on campus!
HC: What is your favorite thing about being a Seahawk Link?
AK:Â My favorite thing about being a link is helping first-year students with anything and everything! I enjoy being one of the first people they meet and think of for help while they’re transitioning to college life.Â
HC: What is the best advice you could give to an incoming student at UNCW?
AK:Â My advice for them is to step out of your comfort zone. No one knows you here, and it’s your opportunity to start fresh. If you’ve always wanted to play a sport, sign up for a team! If you don’t know anyone in your class, don’t be shy and say hello! Everyone is in the same boat as you, and unlike high school, you aren’t judged for what you are wearing, how your hair is styled, or what you’re interested in. Just be you!Â
HC:Â What’s your favorite way to spend your free time?
AK:Â I love hanging out with my friends. It’s super important to find some relaxing time with your pals in between school, work and studying. Even if it’s a 10-minute lunch break or a Cookout run at 2 am, it’s important to find a balance between your studies, your social life, and your sleep!
and now for the juicy stuff…
HC: What is your spirit animal?Â
AK:Â I think my spirit animal would be an otter because they’re happy little cheerful things and I’d like to think I’m happy and cheerful, too. They also hold hands with other otters while floating down rivers and I take that as being a person who cares deeply about the relationships they have and are in it for the long run!
HC: What is your favorite meme?
AK:Â My favorite meme is of Chloe (the little girl looking sideways) because it fits with everything!! and I feel like I embody that look several times a day.Â
