Name: Druscilla Lam
Year: Senior
Major: Film Studies with a Digital Arts minor
Hometown: Originally Danbury, CT, but I call Salisbury, NC home currently.
HC: What’s your favorite thing about being a UNCW student?
Dru: I think my favorite thing about being a UNCW student is that I am surrounded by a great community of people. Everyone here is so welcoming and it feels as if I am at my second home.
Â
HC: What inspired you to pursue film?
Dru: Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to do something with film, but the catalyst was definitely my uncle, who is a director. He encouraged me to pursue film if it was my passion, regardless of what anyone else thought and that he would be there to support and guide me.
Â
HC: Any past times other than filming?
Dru: My schedule is usually packed, so I really enjoy the little things in life. I especially love hanging out with my family and friends.
Â
HC: Who’s your favorite director and why?
Dru: This is a tough question. It’s like asking what is my favorite movie! There are so many to choose from, so it’s hard to pick just one. I think if I were to name a few, I’d have to choose (Alfred) Hitchcock, (Woody) Allen, (Martin) Scorsee, (Steven) Speilburg, (Quentin) Tarantino, etc. Truthfully, I cannot pick because each direcor has their own unique stylistic devices that they use and as a viewer, I absorb any information that I can get.
Â
HC: What does leadership mean to you?
Dru: Leadership is the ability to influence and encourage others to accomplish their goals. Leaders can be made; they aren’t necessarily born. If someone has the willpower and determination they can be an effective leader. In order to be a leader, you have to know when to take a step back and be a follower.
HC: If someone wanted to view your work, is there a website or YouTube channel they could visit?
Dru: Unfortunately, I don’t have a YouTube channel at the moment; however, I will be updating my iMDb page in the near future.
Â
HC: Are you currently working on any projects?
Dru: I am working with an upcoming production company here in Wilmington called Cape Fearless Productions and we are in pre-production for our upcoming film called “Vessels of the Guardians.” I am also an Assistant Director on a short film called, “Locked in Darkness.”
Â
HC: Anything else you’d like to add?
Dru: You can follow our updates for this on our official Facebook page for our production company or our Twitter. You can head to the official Facebook page for “Vessels Of The Guardians” or our Twitter.
We’re in the process of building our official website for the film, but updates will be posted on Cape Fearless Productions Facebook page as well.
