I remember freshman year like it was yesterday and I would give anything to be experiencing college for the first time all over again. Instead, I am stressing over post-grad life, my friends, my grades, and senior year in general. Senior year can be super stressful, but with the help of these few tips, you can make the most of your last two semesters in college while also staying on track to graduate!
Â
Work hard…
This is the last opportunity to make yourself the best college student you can be. You have one more year to get your GPA in top shape, your resume up to par, and your extracurricular activities in order. Start the semester by staying on top of your work and things will all begin to fall into place.
Â
…but play hard too!
While it’s important to work really hard your senior year, it is also essential to have fun and make memories. If you don’t take the time to relax and hang out with your friends, you will not only miss out on so much but you will stress yourself out! Find a good balance between work and play to maximize your time. This will make your senior year happier, healthier, and overall the best it can be.
Â
Do something that sets you apart.
This may be the hardest, yet most essential thing you can do for yourself. Whether you want to continue your education or head straight into the workforce, you are going to want something unique to put you ahead of the rest. While a high GPA is helpful, in the end, it’s not what’s going to get you the job. So, put your mind to it and do something that makes you shine and stand out.
Â
Set aside some time for yourself.
Take the time to do something that you truly enjoy. This might include exercise, leisurely reading, or a team sport. Giving yourself some quality “me time” can greatly improve your productivity in school while also making your social life more enjoyable. The options are endless; so just pick something that makes you happy and stick to it.
Â
Partaking in a selfless activity is important too.
Sometimes the selfless acts we do mean the most. Spend a few hours a week volunteering at a local organization so that you can leave your mark. You want people to remember you for your selflessness, not your selfishness. The time you spend thinking of someone else is time well spent!
Â
Make a plan to stay connected with your college friends.
While you will make post-grad friends, find a way to stay in touch with the friends you made in college. Whether you have a group chat, a weekly email update or set aside time to hang out, you will be happy you kept in touch with your college friends. If you don’t make this effort before you graduate, you won’t do it once you’re gone.
Â
Have a plan for life after college and stick to it.
It is easy to make big plans for after graduation, but it is hard to stick with them. Be brave and make plans that are daring yet attainable. You can set your goals high while still being realistic about your future.
Â
Above all else, enjoy the time you have left. Study hard so you have something to be proud of, but don’t forget to have a little fun along the way. Set aside time for the important things and everything else will fall into place. You’re a college student, so balancing your time is a way of life. Make a schedule and stick to it, but if there’s a memory to be made, go for it. After all, it’s your senior year!
