College is a place for freedom, new opportunities and new experiences. Don’t graduate from college with regrets–here is a bucket list of the top five things students should do before graduating.
1. Write a crazy article for a campus publication: After graduating, people aren’t usually remembered. So, leave your mark by publishing a zany article in the university paper. Trust me, it’s a surefire way to be remembered. Some pretty weird stuff has been published by UNCW’s newspaper, The Seahawk. From stories about shortages of toilet paper to someone’s pet goldfish dying, The Seahawk has definitely covered it.
2. Study abroad: While in college, take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the midst of a totally different culture to learn new and exciting things. Studying abroad can be an amazing opportunity if you take advantage of it while you still can. It doesn’t even have to be in a different country: try to expand your horizons, and you may find yourself surprised.
3. Run for a leadership position: Even if you don’t make the cut, running for a leadership position will help you gain the confidence and necessary skills you’ll need when you start the job-hunting process.
4. Pull a prank: Before graduating, every student has to do at least one prank during college. Its such a fun way to remember your days as a student and not to mention, students, staff and faculty will remember you for a really long time (especially if you decide to ride around school in a luggage cart).
5. Organize a community service project:Organizing a service project is one of the many rewarding things you can do for your community and for yourself. There’s nothing greater than giving back to your school. Your community will appreciate it for years to come. Possible projects include: feeding the homeless, volunteering at your local animal shelters or walking for a cause.
