Hometown: Shelby, NC
Position: President of Lambda Pi Eta
HC: What is Lambda Pi Eta?
LM: Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is a nationally recognized honors organization for students studying Communication Studies.
HC: Why did you join LPH and what are the requirements?
LM: I joined LPH to get more involved in the Communication Studies Department at UNCW. I thought pursuing a leadership position would help build upon my skills as a Communication Studies major. In order to be a member of LPH you must meet a GPA requirement and work volunteer hours each semester.
HC: What do you hope to accomplish during your time as the president of LPH?
LM: I hope to get more Communication Studies students involved with LPH and broaden the outreach of our current members. I also strive to continue LPH’s legacy as an elite academic student organization.
HC: What do you plan to do with your Communication Studies degree?
LM: I plan to pursue a career in the Public Relations and/or Advertising fields. I also hope to break into the film industry once my career takes flight. I could see myself living in New York City or California once I land the job of my dreams.
HC: Now that you are a senior, how do you plan to leave your mark at UNCW?
LM: My biggest accomplishment has been landing this position as LPH president, so I think this is where my legacy lies. I hope to make every member of LPH more committed to the Communication Studies Department while also making the organization fun and diverse. I want everyone to be proud to be a part of this amazing department.
HC: What do you recommend to underclassmen that want to get more involved?
LM: I would recommend getting involved with clubs, such as Surf Rider, that allow you to meet a variety of people, men and women, that come together to help save the environment.
HC: What is your fondest memory at UNCW?
LM: Studying abroad is by far my fondest memory at UNCW. I met some of my best friends and made some of my favorite memories. UNCW really goes above and beyond to help you have an experience abroad.
HC: What are you going to miss most about your college experience?
LM: I’m going to miss the importance most UNCW student places on the environment. As a community, we place great emphasis on keeping our beaches and oceans clean for us all to enjoy.
