This week, the ladies of Alpha Chi Omega hosted a “Healthy Relationships Week” on campus to raise awareness for and fight against domestic violence.Â
Throughout the week this sorority held booths at various locations on campus to demonstrate and share their knowledge on what healthy relationships are.Â
For Tuesday, they held a “Love is…” table right outside of the Thomas G. Carpenter Library.Â
This is where students could come and write on a chalkboard their definitions of what love is. The answers were beautiful, and ranged from “Love is Laughter,” to “Love is Sisterhood.” The point of Tuesday was to show that love is always meant to be happy and positive, and never should it hurt.Â
Wednesday, the ladies jumped location and headed to Market Days outside of the Student Union. There, they operated a “Kiss from Alpha Chi,” where they gave out Hershey’s Kisses with sweet messages attached. It was also where students could make Valentine’s Day cards that would be donated to the Hubbard House.Â
On Thursday, their last day of Healthy Relationships Week, the sorority was back at the library, this time selling carnations, where 100% of the proceeds they made would be donated to the Hubbard House.Â
Â
Domestic Violence is a very serious issue where even one occurrence is way too many. We truly appreciate and commend Alpha Chi Omega for holding a place in the fight to end domestic violence.Â
Good job, Alpha Chi!Â
