20 Thoughts When Turning 20 This Year
Every year we all get a little bit older even when it doesn’t seem like it. Some ages seem pointless while others give us the ability to do certain things. Once you hit 20 it is a huge milestone and the teen years are over. You are technically referred to as an adult when really that could be the furthest thing you feel from. It’s been two decades since you were born and two years since senior year of high school… just let that sink in. You may not be as young as you thought you were and there may be some new thoughts very arising as your 20th birthday approaches. Here’s some to really get you feeling like an adult and the 20 year old you are now to be!
1. Just One More Year
We all realize that 20 is the year that starts the longing 365 days until you’re 21.. the miraculous age of legal purchases.
2. I am No Longer a Teen
We all remember the exciting age of 13 when you could officially be called a teenager, and taht was probably the coolest part of your life. But now, theres a new label: adult. And suddenly you’re expected to be mature and wise even when you still don’t even know how to schedule your own doctors appointments.
3. Survived Teen Pregnancy
Congrats, you did it! Another ground breaking milestone everyone realizes when they’re 20: they didn’t fall into the teen pregnancy bracket and although could’ve made millions on Teen Mom they chose to keep their face off the big screen and give themselves just a little more time.
5. These Friends Are Here to Stay
By the time you’re 20 you’ve basically made a good amount of decisions and mistakes that whoever has stuck by your side this long is here to stay. Your high school and college years really mark the point in your life where you realize your life long friends and who’s been there through it all. So hats off to your 20s and the friends that have made it this far and hopefully will journey with you until 30.
6. Am I Too Young For This?
20 seems to be that awkward age where you don’t know if you’re still too young for certain things. Like yes I’m an “adult” now but how much of an adult am I really? I mean, I was just a teen.
7. Am I Too Old For This?
While some days you may question if you’re really as old as the age makes you seem some days you’ll feel that teen girl still ready to come out and play. Like is it okay to still watch High School Musical 1, 2 and 3 in one sitting or is that frowned upon? Why can’t a girl still live by the life lessons of Lizzie McGuire?
8. So You’re Telling Me 2006 Was 10 Years Ago?
The year we were introduced to the dancing skills of Channing Tatum in Step Up and laughed at the comedy of Amanda Bynes in She’s The Man (starring Channing as well). So thank you 2006 for plenty of shirtless Channing Tatum.
9. …and in 10 Years It Will Be 2026?
Let’s hope by 2026 Dunkin Donuts & Chipotle will finally deliver by then. And to think Kanye West could be the president…
10. …and I Will Be 30.
Yup, 30.
11. Can My Mom Still Tell Me What to Do?
Can I still get in trouble? When do I actually stop relying on my mom for.. well, everything?
12. Well, Kendall Jenner is also 20.
She also has her own modeling contract, a million dollar house and then, theres me.
13. So Should I Have an Actual Job?
Maybe a career soon? Does babysitting still count? Should I just dog sit for the rest of my life? I think 20 may be the time to maybe start looking…
14. High School Was 2 Years Ago?
Wasn’t I just riding the bus and asking to use the bathroom?
15. Should I Be In a Serious Relationship? Or Want to Be..?
Maybe I should get in a relationship so people won’t think I’m gonna die alone and/or incapable of love. Or maybe not.
16. Is It Still Okay To Not Know One Thing About My Finances?
What are taxes? How much do I actually owe for student loans. What’s an APR? Someone, anyone help.
17. I’m a Belieber and Proud
Is it still acceptable to be crushing this hard on Justin Bieber? He’s only two years older.. so it’s fine right?
Yup, totally fine.
18. I Can Only Cook Toast and Mac & Cheese.
Maybe I should learn to cook something other than cereal. But, then again delivery, takeout and starvation are always options.
19. Oh Right, My Resume
I’m 20, I should have one of those resume things right? So tell me, what is it and how do I go about that?
And I will leave you with this last thought…
20. Happy Birthday! You’re Halfway to 40!
