5 Spring Trends You Can’t Live Without

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Spring has sprung!  Even though we have been teased with the warm weather and then snow flurries, it’s time to start building your spring wardrobe.  It is time to pack away your North Face fleeces and down jackets, and start revamping your wardrobe for spring. With new trends on the horizon, here is a look at what styles are big right now, and where you can find them on any budget.

PRINTS
Prints are flattering for every shape and size. They will be everywhere this spring from headbands to skirts! Whether you opt for a cute top or a dress, the bright colors make a memorable fashion statement. These dresses can all be dressed up or down; they can be paired with flats or sandals for a day out shopping with the girls, or with heels and wedges for a night out!

Sweetheart Confetti Dress, Shoshanna (www.neimanmarcus.com), $319

LONG SKIRTS
You may recognize these long skirts and dresses from last year but they are definitely more prevalent this spring.  Long, lightweight and flowy skirts and dresses are very in, so give in and buy one! Maxi dresses are very comfortable and an easy to wear piece, while still looking so cute! Add a long necklace or some bangles to dress the outfit up. With the long skirts, you can add a baggier blouse for a bohemian look, or a tighter tank for a more casual look. No matter your height, it is a look that everyone can pull off.

Bessy Strapless Long Dress, Karina Grimaldi (www.shopbop.com), $262

CROCHET AND LACE
Lace is a lightweight and adorable fabric to wear, but be careful to avoid types that may cause you to look like your grandmother’s doily. Choose something with a larger design. These tops are easily dressed up or down, and look adorable with layered necklaces.  You can always throw on a blazer over it to wear out to a nice dinner.  Being mostly sheer, you can make the tops as conservative as you desire, by opting for a sexier look with simply a bandeau, or covering up more with a tank.

FLATS
Are your poor feet tired of being stuffed into sky-high heels, night after night? Lucky for you, this season, flats are in. In so many different cute colors, these adorable ballet flats look great with any outfit, and are comfortable, too. Whether worn with a skirt or jeans, flats work for every occasion. Check out these cute options – your feet will thank you.

STRIPES
Stripes are always adorable, and perfect for the warm weather. This season, designers veer away from the nautical look by offering the stripes in bright, citrus colors. You can also find a variety of stripe thickness, from thin pin stripes to extra thick. So whether you want a more casual t-shirt look with shorts, or a striped blouse for a dressier look, you will be able to find it this season. Stripes are also extremely flattering! Keep in mind, this trend looks cuter with a little room- so don’t opt for a skin-tight version.
