As girls, our love affair with fashion and accessories is unconditional. While we’re always ready to embrace new trends, sometimes it’s just too hard to let go of ones that are way past their time in our closets. It doesn’t matter whether or not the trend is deemed good or bad, or in or out, with all of the fashion trends out there, there’s bound to be a few that confuse the masses. Bring on the guys. Read along to find 5 UNH guys give us some insight on the one fashion trend they never quite understood and why it’s so hard for them to get on board.
High-Waisted Jorts
Nick Stoico ‘15
“Was this one of those ‘it was popular in the 1980s, and now we’re bringing it back’ –type things? I don’t get it. It looks like she stole her dad’s jeans, rushed through cutting the legs off, and now has to spend the day hiking them up because they’re too big. If they are more comfortable than normal jorts, go for it. If it’s for style, I don’t know. I know this trend is kind of dated because no girl will want to wear that when it’s -10 outside, but it had me puzzled last fall.”
Crop Tops
Danny Crisman ‘17
“Ladies, I took micro so I’m pretty much an expert in all things business-related. So trust me when I say paying more for a shirt with less material is a dumb investment. That being said, you do you girl.”
The Sock Bun
Sam Mangano ‘15
“For years girls have ridiculed me for stuffing my pants with socks. Now those same girls are using socks to stuff their buns; [it] seems hypocritical. Sock buns…more like suck buns.
Fake Nails
Justin Millette ‘16
“Why would you glue plastic to your fingers? Long fingernails just seem like they would get in the way all time and no matter what a girl does to their fingernails, fingers are not very attractive.”
Chokers
Michael Santana ‘18
“The one trend that I am starting to see pop up again is chokers. Besides how uncomfortable they look, I can’t really understand why someone would like to have something so tight around their neck. From what I’ve been told, it’s supposed to come off as more of an alternative look, but it still confuses me on why it’s becoming so popular again.”
