The Best Spooky Movies to Binge This Halloween Season

The conjuring Universe

To start off, we have the Conjuring Universe. These movies all fall under the supernatural category of horror movies. They are about demons, possessions and ghostly situations. In order to fully understand everything happening in these movies, I recommend watching them in chronological order, which is as follows:

  1. The Nun

2. Annabelle: Creation

3. Annabelle

4. The Conjuring

5. Annebelle Comes Home

6. The Curse of La Llorona

7. The Conjuring 2

8. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

If you follow this order when watching the Conjuring Universe, everything will overlap with each other and that way all your questions will be answered as you watch.

Scream movies

Once again, the Scream movies are a great set of movies to watch if you want a little jump scare, but not so much of the supernatural stuff. The Scream series is more along the thriller side of horror. You will want to watch them in the following order:

  1. Scream (1996)

2. Scream 2

3. Scream 3

4. Scream 4

5. Scream (2022)

6. Scream VI

The Friday the 13th movies

Of course, it would be a crime not to include the classics in this fun binge. While I am not the biggest fan of all of these, they are still fun to sit down and watch with some friends. Once again, there are two possible ways to watch these: you can choose to watch them by release date or in chronological order. I am always in favor of chronological order as each movie flows into the next. The chronological order is listed below:

  1. Friday the 13th

2. Friday the 13th Part II

3. Friday the 13th Part III

4. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

5. Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning

6. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

7. Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood

8. Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

9. Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday

10. Freddy vs. Jason

The remaining movies can be watched in any order as they have no chronological effect on the movies.

Supernatural series

While Supernatural is not a movie, in my opinion, it is one of the best shows to ever have been aired. It has 15 seasons with episodes ranging from 25 to 35 minutes each. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the supernatural world whatsoever.

Smile

I am not a person who gets freaked out easily, but this movie definitely spooked me. There are so many jump scares, twists and turns and “on the edge of your seat” moments. It keeps your attention and leaves you thinking in the end.

IT Movies

The IT movies were absolutely amazing! While the movies most thought of today are based on the earlier creations, I think the newer movies are the best. Both IT and IT: Chapter 2 were captured so well and definitely give viewers an uneasy feeling.

Split Movies

These movies are amazing thrillers. Split is about a man who suffers from Disassociative Identity Disorder (DID), and is faced with many challenges among his fellow alters or personalities. The viewer gets to be on the inside of what is going on in someone’s head who suffers from this and is still shocked by everything throughout. The order to watch these are as follows:

  1. Unbreakable

2. Split

3. Glass

Considering many others

While there are multiple classics I did not mention, these fall into my favorite movies to watch around the spooky season. I hope others enjoy these as much as I do!
