What is your position with Scope?
I am the Executive Director of SCOPE.
Â
How did you become involved with Scope?
I actually heard of the organization when I was in high school and wanted to join. Then when I was a freshmen I applied and was fortunate enough to be hired my first semester at school.
Â
How long have you been involved with scope?
I have been involved with SCOPE since October of my freshmen year.
Playing with Issac the goat at the Homecoming fireworks that SCOPE put on!
What is your favorite thing about the job?
My favorite thing about the job is that is has completely changed my career path. That might not be something specific about SCOPE, but being a member has taught me so much and I have fallen in love with this industry.
Â
Give us your most unbelievable story you have experienced while working with Scope.
Honestly, being able to write this and talk about SCOPE and its comeback is probably the most unbelievable experience. At this point last year, we were not sure SCOPE would still exist. Then, thanks to all of the hard work, many, many sacrifices, and timeless hours devoted to regaining membership and rebuilding this organization by every one who was involved has given me one of the most incredible experience I have ever been a part of.
Â
Tell us about the recent comeback of SCOPE!
I could not be more proud of a group of individuals. Last spring we started with 8 members having their membership regained. We worked with the Advisory Board we were appointed to help rebuild and work on the aspects of the organization everyone felt could be handled better. We then hired 8 new members that optimized what we believed would be the future of SCOPE. Over the summer, I was the liaison with our agents and we worked on booking our big fall comeback show, Kendrick Lamar. Once we came back to school, we started planning that first day and never stopped until October 24th. In that time, we hired a new class of 7 students who we knew would be incredible editions to our growing organization. We have been going non-stop all year long for the students of UNH and there is no time to waste. Starting tomorrow we hit the ground running, again, and will be discussing and planning for the spring. Get ready for one incredible semester UNH!
How do you guys go about getting in touch with all of the awesome celebrities that come to UNH?
We are fortunate enough to have two agents that we are in constant contact with. One who has been with us for over 10 years now, and the other who is actually a SCOPE alumnus. They are both incredible to work with and truly understand SCOPE and how it is run, which is such an invaluable quality.
Â
Personally, who is your favorite artist who has performed here?
Personally, Kendrick Lamar. I say this not only because I respect him so much and love his music, but also because it was a show I was not sure would happen due to the events of the previous year. However, seeing him run on stage made every minute of this past year worth it.
Â
How much of a success would you say the Kendrick Lamar concert was?
I would say it was a great success! As with everything, there are bumps along the road, but part of being in this organization is being able to adapt to what is happening, and I truly believe everyone did in the best way possible. Everyone who attended seemed to have a great night and I still have people coming up to me thanking SCOPE for bringing him.
Â
What do you do with your time that is not dedicated to SCOPE?
I love cooking! Whenever I am with my family, we are always cooking or baking something new (I am actually home doing just that right now). But my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family and my friends. Good people who can make me laugh, that’s all I need.
Â
Can you give us any hints on what SCOPE is planning for us in the future?
I will give you a small hint, don’t expect just one show. We have got a few more tricks up our sleeve for the spring.
Â
How does one go about getting involved with SCOPE?
Well there are a few different ways. Voicing who they would like to see come here or what they thought about our past shows helps us a lot. Additionally, volunteering for one of our future shows will allow students a quick glimpse at what we do. However, the main way to get involved is to apply when we have our hiring sessions. Generally we hire once a year, typically in the early fall, but there are some years when we hire in the spring as well.Â
