This week’s campus celebrity is UNH Pi Kappa Alpha’s Dream Girl, the beautiful Celena Zucco. If you don’t know what this competition is all about, keep reading to find out, and if you already know, you don’t want to miss out on just how Celena went about being named the newest Dream Girl, in order to donate to such an amazing cause!
Name: Celena Zucco
School/Year: Health and Human Services /Senior
Major: Recreation Management and Policy: Therapeutic Recreation Option
Hometown: Woburn, MA
Activities/Clubs: Alpha Xi Delta
You recently won the title of Pi Kappa Alpha’s Dream Girl and were able to donate to Make-A-Wish Foundation for your sorority Alpha Xi Delta! How much was raised for you, along with the rest of your sorority, donate?
Yes, it was great to be able to help Pike and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I was able to raise about $ 120 with the help of my sorority, but all of my friends attending Dream Girl, involved and not involved in Greek life, also added to the overall donation.  Â
Do you have any kind of personal connection with the Make-A-Wish Foundation?Â
Make-A-Wish foundation is something very close to my heart due to my passion for helping children who have various medical conditions. I do know friends and family who have been affected by a life threatening illness and seeing the impact Make-A- Wish has had on others with similar diagnosis shows how much joy is brought into their lives.    Â
The Dream Girl competition requires each of the girls to display one of their talents, what was your talent?
To many peoples surprise my talent was singing. I was hesitant to do this, but I got over my nerves and figured I’d just go for it. I love country music so I decided to sing Leave the Pieces by the Wreckers.
Who was your escort for the Dream Girl Competition and how did he help you in winning the title of Dream Girl?
My escort was that hottie with the body John Merrill. He is the sweetest guy ever, made sure I had everything I needed in between categories and kept me laughing the entire time. He always had something nice to say after each round so basically he’s the best and I wouldn’t have wanted any other escort.
The Dream Girl competition also requires you to answer a question at the end. What was your question and how do you think you did in answering it?
My question was “What song could I listen to over and over again”. Idk if I could actually listen to the song Happy by Pharrell multiple times, but I wasn’t lying when I said I love the movie Despicable Me and I do have a minion that sleeps on my bed with me every night. I guess I kinda flipped that question around, but answered it pretty fast. Â
If you could give advice to girls that may compete to be Pi Kappa Alpha’s future Dream Girl, what would it be?
The advice I would give is to just not stress and have fun! Overall it was a hilarious time and we had a blast. Pike made everything extremely easy for the contestants and gave great direction. Get over being embarrassed and just know your doing it for a great cause. Also, I have always wanted to wear my sisters prom dress and I’m sure every girl wants to wear theirs again so here’s your chance!
Give us one fun fact about you!
One fun fact about me that’s really weird is my sister Alana and I have the same birthday, but we’re three years apart.
Lastly, if you could pick next week’s campus celebrity, who would it be and why?
If I could pick next weeks campus celebrity it would be my bestest, longest friend and roommate Krista Doherty for putting up with me all these years. Â
