Go on a hike
For the past few summers, I have made an effort to ensure that I go hiking at least once before the summer comes to an end. I wasn’t a huge fan of hiking when I was younger, but recently I have really taken a liking to it! Hiking is a great way to clear your mind, to get exercise, and to appreciate nature and great scenery. One of my favorite hiking spots is the Flume Gorge and the Indian Creek Trail, both in Lincoln New Hampshire.
Go surfing
I have been surfing since I was eight-years-old, so this is a normal summer activity for me. But I have made an effort to teach a handful of my friends whom have never surfed before, how to surf. Every single one of them enjoyed the experience and loved having the opportunity to try surfing, even if they didn’t think they were the best at it. Going surfing at least once in your life is an experience that I think everyone should have!
Take a day trip
Day trips in the summer are one of the best and inexpensive ways to enjoy a nice summer day, without having to dedicate multiple days to a lengthy vacation. Spontaneous day trips that are decided the day before, or the day of, are my favorite types of trips. My friends and I’s favorite day trip location is Nantucket Island in Massachusetts. Going to the beach, shopping, having a picnic, and getting ice cream, is a great way to spend a day trip on Nantucket! There are so many other venues that would be perfect for a summer day trip!
Sit around a campfire
One of my favorite things to do every summer is to sit around a late night campfire with my friends or family. Some of my best conversions, funny moments, and happy times, have occurred sitting around a fire with people I enjoy being around. Simply enjoying each other’s company, the brisk summer air, and the warmth of the fire, is something that I already look forward to. Don’t forget the marshmallows and the mosquito spray of course!
Go for a joy ride
Another thing that I absolutely love doing in the summer is driving around with my friends, rolling all the windows down, playing music, and just enjoying it all. The combination of the warm summer breeze, the vibes of the music, and the stress relief of just enjoying the drive with no planned destination, is sometimes unbeatable. I highly recommend that you add going for a joy ride to your summer bucket list!
