One of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving is waking up in the morning to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, so many great performances and appearances. It’s such a great way to welcome the holiday season (aka the best time of the year), so here are some of my favorite parts of this years parade!
Â
1. Beautiful performances by the Broadway shows Dear Evan Hansen and Anastasia. I’m admittedly a huge sucker for musicals, but there’s just something more magical when they perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Â
2. Performances by musical artists like Gwen Stefani. Yet another weakness of mine, musical performances. I honestly was just obsessed with Gwen Stefani’s dress and the choreography, talk about the whole package!
Â
3. The insane vocals of Angelica Hale, season 12 runner-up on America’s Got Talent. Okay, I had heard about this girl but I had never actually heard her sing, and I have to say I was absolutely amazed. My jaw literally dropped at the amount of power she was able to produce – just wow!
Â
4. Even more gigantic balloons that will never stop being awesome! These things don’t get enough attention, there’s so much that must go into prepping these balloons for the parade. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to see them in person! I’m a big fan of the Pillsbury Dough Boy, Grinch, and Elf on the Shelf balloons!
Â
5. The Radio City Rockette’s looking just as beautiful as ever with yet another mind-blowing routine. I used to go see the Rockette’s every year when I was a kid and was always enthralled by how intricate and precise all of their choreography was. Even though I don’t get to see them in person every year, I am still amazed by their skills when they perform in the parade.
Â
6. So many crazy talented high school marching bands showcasing their skills. When I was on color guard in high school and did all of the crazy flag twirling, I thought we were so good but then I watch bands like these and realize that what I did wasn’t even close to the same. It was still super fun, but nothing like what these bands do. One of them even came all the way from Alaska to perform at the parade!
Â
7. All of the elaborate floats – from the classics to the new additions! Every year these floats just get bigger and better and they’re so much fun to watch! We had the classics like the turkey, the wooden duck, and the Build-a Bear float and new ones like the Hawaii float. I personally love the Build-a-Bear float and the Peanuts float!
Â
8. Hundreds of volunteers making this parade even more amazing than anyone ever thought it could be! There is so much to go into this parade and the amount of volunteers that make it what it is is just incredible. Maybe one day I’ll volunteer and get to experience the magic up front and in person.
Â
9. The holiday spirit! From the costumes to the music, everything about this parade welcomes Christmas! I’m a huge Christmas person, so I love the parade because it marks a transition from fall the Christmas season for me. It also means that I can now listen to Christmas music freely without complaints! Everyone is so excited and ready for the holidays, it’s such a jolly time of year!
Â
10. The coming of Santa Claus! Every year, Santa’s appearance at the end of the Thanksgiving Day Parade marks the beginning of the holiday season. Once Santa Claus has come to town, it is officially the Christmas season! As of tomorrow, houses will start getting decorated and gifts will start being wrapped. Such an exciting time of year and I can’t wait!f
Â
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families! Now have a great time decorating for Christmas – it’s now socially acceptable to listen to Christmas music and I don’t know about you but I plan on taking advantage of that! Have a great rest of your semester and good luck on finals!
