Kelly Sullivan graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Art last spring. Since then she’s skipped the post-graduate phase of searching for a job endlessly only to find that the real world is harder then college (but worth the hard work)! For Kelly, she’s living the post-grad dream getting to do something she loves!
Kelly is the Executive Design Artist for Greater Than Sports (GTS), an athletic apparel company out of Saratoga Springs, NY. She gets to be creative everyday and go to work doing something she loves. You’ve probably seen people around campus wearing GTS and wondered where you can get some! Their online store ships all over and the products will keep you coming back for more. We asked Kelly about her experiences at GTS and how what she did to earn a spot on the GTS team, here’s what she told us:
Were you involved in fashion before GTS?
I was never involved with fashion seriously before, for a brief time I worked at Victoria Secret as well as J. Crew as a part time sales associate. I was never interested in retail or fashion in particular so what’s interesting to me in pursing a career with Greater Than Sports was the amount of options it gave me to be creative.
What made you interested in pursuing this career?
At GTS, I am able to be part photographer, part graphic artist, part fashion designer and the go-to person for anything visual. Seeing everything we put together come to life is very rewarding.
How did you get involved with GTS?
I was lucky enough to begin dating one of Mike’s teammates freshman year at UNH. When Mike had the idea for GTS he came to me for the original workhorse design because I was an art student. From one design we began to develop a logo and then it just kept growing from there.
What do you do there on a daily basis?
Everyday I am lucky enough to walk to work in the beautiful and fun Saratoga Springs, NY. I get to develop some custom logos for teams and organizations, put together custom packages of products for every customer, design ads and create graphics for everything from our trailer, retail and Facebook.

What’s the best part about working at GTS?
The best part of working here is having your opinion matter, seeing everything you create come to life and being a part of the team of people we have in the office. Finding people as passionate about this business as Mike and I are, is an amazing feeling. Everyone is so easygoing as well as determined. We enjoy working together, being here everyday and watching the company grow.
What’s your favorite product at GTS right now?
My favorite product is our yoga pants. They aren’t available for sale yet but will be by the end of January, or at the latest beginning of February (Not available at time of interview, but available now! Best Damn Yoga Pant), I am lucky enough to have the sample pair and could not be happier! They are my favorite pants to actually work out in. Yes, you can wear them around everyday when you don’t really want to get dressed but they were developed to perform. I wear them to my yoga classes, to the gym and on runs. I cannot wait until every girl has the opportunity to wear them!!!
