With Taylor Swift’s new album “Midnights” coming out on October 21st, I have been reflecting on her past albums and how much she’s changed and grown over the course of her career. I’ve always related her growth to the growth of myself as her albums have been the soundtrack to my entire life. Although I could never pick a favorite album or favorite song by Taylor because that just seems impossible, these are my current favorite songs that I’ve had on repeat and why!

  1. “Taylor Swift”

My favorite song on Taylor Swift’s debut album is currently “Teardrops On My Guitar.” I feel that this song has always been significant for me in my life because this was her first song that I remember loving as a 5-year-old when this album came out. 15 years later and it still hits the same and I will always have a special place in my heart for this song.

  1. “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”

The other night I had a dream that I was somewhere being forced to sing the song “Forever & Always” from this album and ever since that dream I have had it on repeat! Something about this song is the perfect balance of angry breakup but also sweet and innocent heartbreak and that’s why I love it so much.

  1. “Speak Now”

Although I am a huge Jonas Brothers fan, “Last Kiss” will forever be one of my favorite songs from this album. The fact that she wrote this song when she was around 19 years old is crazy to me because of how poetic and well-written this song is. This song always felt like it was written as a letter that she never sent and for that, I will always love it.

  1. “Red (Taylor’s Version)”

Although Red is one of my favorite albums and I have such a hard time deciding on my favorite from this album, I have currently had “I Bet You Think About Me” on repeat. This album is my fall soundtrack and it will forever give me the most nostalgic feeling in the best way possible. All of the songs originally on the first version of Red will forever be my favorites, but the From The Vault songs on Taylor’s Version are my favorite songs from the vault so far!

  1. “1989”

This album is another one that makes it so hard to pick a favorite but for me, I have recently been loving the song “I Wish You Would.” I love how this song is written as if she is mad at the person it’s about when she says the lyric “you always knew how to push my buttons,” but she then goes on to say how she wants this person back in the same breath. The irony of this song is one of the reasons why I love it so much.

  1. “Reputation”

I feel as though this may be an unpopular opinion, but recently I have been loving “…Ready For It?” from “Reputation.” At first, when “Reputation” came out, this was one of my least favorites on the album, but for some reason recently I have been listening to this song so much.

  1. “Lover”

Maybe it’s because I have been hearing it all over TikTok but recently “Afterglow” has been my favorite song off Lover. I love how the album “Lover: is about being in love and finding someone who finally understands you and this song is almost the opposite of that. I’ve always thought of this song as an apology to someone that she has hurt in the past and a longing for forgiveness which makes me love it even more.

  1. “Folklore”

“Folklore” is arguably one of my top three favorite albums by Taylor. It gives me the most nostalgic, end-of-summer, August feel. That being said, “august” will forever be one of my top favorite songs on this album. The love triangle between Betty, James, and Augustine is so beautifully written and relatable for so many. This album and song in particular are so charismatic which is why I love them so much.

  1. “Evermore”

I recently saw a TikTok of someone cleaning their house to the song “ivy” and now I can’t get it out of my head. This song is just so well-written and catchy that I have not stopped playing it on repeat. This album and song feel like a warm hug on a fall day which is why I listen to it so much.

Although this list will likely change by tomorrow because I can never pick a favorite, these are my current favorite Taylor Swift songs. She is genuinely my favorite artist of all time. Her relatability, wit, and genuine love of the art are something that I will always admire and cherish about her.
