Joining Her Campus at UNH led me to some of the most amazing people and this last article is for them.
So, here’s to my HC girls.Â
When I reflect on my college experience, the most valuable thing is Her Campus. There are so many reasons that I am passionate about this organization, but you all truly made it that much more special. I would not be half the person I am today without you. You are all so empowering, motivating and inspiring. You have given me the confidence that I tried so hard to search for my first couple months in college. You were there for me, without judgement, when I needed people to vent to. You pushed me to become a better leader, writer and person. You let me be the person I really am inside.
I think about how far this organization has come since I joined freshman year. To be able to say that I was the Co-President and Campus Correspondent my last year of college to a club of about 100+ girls is amazing. I would not have made it this far without you all and I am so proud of the work we have all done to make improvements to this organization. This club has taught me more about myself and life than any class ever could. If I hadn’t put my name on the list at U-Day and shown up to the first year of meetings alone, I never would have met any of you. I forced myself to do something that scared me: join a club where I knew nobody and share my personal writing online. I can’t imagine where I would be if I hadn’t taken that leap.
There are no words that allow me to express how grateful I am to each of you. Without you all, I would not have had the strength to push through some of the hardest times of my life. I am grateful I had the opportunity to surround myself with so many powerful women who taught me how to use my voice. You taught me what it means to be a woman and I am forever appreciative. Some of the articles you have all written have taught me so much – how you cope with your anxiety, how you deal with people criticizing your body, how you view the curveballs life throws at you, how you stay positive when the going gets tough. It takes a lot of bravery to be able to share these stories with the world. I know this because I have written my fair share of personal articles. Because of this, I admire you all so much.
Each and every one of you are special in your way. Do not ever let anyone take away your sparkle. I’ll always remember you as kick-ass, beautiful, intelligent women and for that reason, my last ever Her Campus article is dedicated to you.
I love you all. HCXO, T
