As the winter break approaches, we will soon pack up our things to spend the next four to six weeks back at home. This time away from school can feel boring and unproductive, leaving us feeling lazy and itching to get back on campus. This is why I like to use a winter break to-do list to help me make the most of my time off. To help avoid the winter break blues follow my winter break to-do list:

Declutter and Organize

After enjoying all the joyous festivities, I like to take some time to declutter and organize. Cleaning out your room and getting rid of clothes and old belongings can be a therapeutic way to clear your mental space and get back into a productive lifestyle before returning to school. I also like to clean out my car and deal with any maintenance issues while I’m home!

Quality Time with Family and Friends

Winter break is perfect for spending time with loved ones, especially family and grandparents. If you are lucky enough to still have your grandparents around, definitely don’t take this time for granted. Spending time with them even if it’s just dropping by, playing card games or sharing a meal can mean so much.

Self-Reflection and Setting Goals

As the year comes to an end, it’s typical to have a lot to unpack mentally and emotionally. Take a moment to reflect and determine what kind of things you want to accomplish moving forward. Using this time to set both personal and academic goals for the upcoming semester/year can help you get ahead. Whether it’s improving study habits, joining a new club or starting your job search, having clear objectives will give you direction and motivation.

Health and Wellness Check

With such a short amount of time at home, it’s easy to overlook your well-being. Schedule a check-up, catch up on sleep and establish a fitness routine. I like to take my dog on walks or go on hikes with friends. Winter break is the ideal time to recharge physically and mentally, ensuring you return to campus feeling refreshed and ready for the semester.

Summer Plans Exploration

While I’m home over break I often find myself with a lot of downtime without the stress of homework and assignments. I like to use this to begin exploring my potential summer plans, whether it be securing a job or lining up an internship. Early planning can give you a competitive edge and help ease the stress when the end of the academic year approaches.

I hope this to-do list helps you tackle your winter break!
