When I was around 16 I went gluten-free for fun and me time… which was a mistake. The beautiful thing about living in the U.S. is that a lot of our food is filled with preservatives, considering the majority of things must be shipped in, meaning they are absolutely loaded with chemicals. By allowing my body to stop digesting these harsh preservatives, I began to lose the ability to digest them at all. I could eat gluten in small amounts, but it never “sat right.” This past summer, I completely lost the ability to eat gluten and had to transition to eating gluten free. While I am no chef, my mother is an angel and would make gluten-free fried chicken, sweet potato brownies, and basically anything I could imagine. However, while back at school, I have started to accumulate some of my go-to snacks and would like to share them with you! In the long run, also unfortunately, you will feel better, your skin will look clearer, and you will be less bloated. So, if you are insane and want to go gluten-free, here are some of my fan favorites.Â
- Anything Bobos!Â
Their PB&J Strawberry Snack, Coconut and Strawberry Stuffed Bites, and Lemon Poppyseed Oat Bar are some of my absolute favorites! They fill you up quickly and taste delicious. Â
- Annie’s Gluten-Free Mac n CheeseÂ
The idea of eating rice mac n cheese does sound cursed, but it tastes just like the real thing! I will admit that some gluten free rice “bread” tastes pretty trash, but Annie’s does not fall under that category. Â
- Gluten-Free SnydersÂ
I feel like I don’t really have to explain this. Anytime I tell someone I’m gluten free they go “Ew, I would hate my life. But gluten free pretzels are so good!” Thanks guys.Â
- Glutino SnacksÂ
Holy moly. Their chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate wafers, and creme cookies are to die for. Â Whenever I am craving a chocolate sweet, I reach for these!Â
- Siete Â
Best cookies I have ever had in my entire life, especially their Mexican wedding.Â
- Legendary FoodsÂ
You’ve definitely seen these in the supplement section of Target, but their pop tarts and cinnamon buns are super filling and loaded with protein!Â
- KatzÂ
I LOVE Poptarts, and their Strawberry Toaster Pastries are even better than the original name brand. Â
- HippeasÂ
The equivalent of Doritos, but made from chickpeas so they’re healthy, right?Â
9. Dave’s Killer Bread
It’s not gluten-free, but it’s organic enough that I can still eat its products and feel perfectly fine! Their whole-grain bread and Boomin Berry Bagels are some of my favorites.
Beyond these snacks, eating gluten-free really isn’t all that bad! It is ten times easier to focus on eating whole foods, like fruits, veggies, and protein. So, if you want to mess up your gut and accidentally be forced to eat “healthier” for the rest of your life, try gluten-free!Â
