As I clicked submit on my final assignment of my junior year of college, it really hit me that my number of college years left was down to one. Everyone told me college would be the best years of my life, and as that still holds true, no one told me how fast they would fly by. It feels like just yesterday I was crying saying goodbye to all my friends at Williamson dreading my first summer away from school.
Looking back on my last three years, I have found seven things to be true:
-
It is okay to be unsure because 99% of the time you will have no clue what you are doing. Take a breath, life has a way of working itself out.
-
Take risks, they could be life changing.
-
Failing is a necessity, it is where you experience the most growth.
-
Surround yourself with people you truly want to be around, it is not helping anyone if you are pretending.
-
Go out! Go explore campus, downtown, activities happening on campus or in your dorm!
-
Not to oppose #5 but also stay in! Finding your balance between a social life and “me time” is very important! College can be fast-paced and sometimes you just need a little time to reset:)
-
Exercise! Sweat it out, you will feel better! Anything from walking to weight lifting will be a nice detox from all the academics.
