Shop Small: My Favorite Small Businesses Near UNH

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Retail therapy is my favorite kind of therapy, yet it can sometimes feel wasteful. I have recently been trying to become more sustainable and research the businesses and products I buy and support. By doing this I have found some great local shops that I love! Buying from small and local businesses helps to support your community and ensures your money is being used to improve it. It is more ethical and better for the environment to support small local shops. A great thing about shopping at these stores is that you are more likely to find handmade and one of a kind clothing items and accessories! Some of my favorite small businesses near UNH are:

Topanga Canyon Vintage- Durham, NH

Topanga Canyon Vintage is right down the street from UNH. They sell all sorts of thrifted vintage clothes, accessories, and unique items. They sell jewelry made by local college students as well! I have found the cutest clothing items and accessories there.

Deadwick’s Ethereal Emporium – Portsmouth, NH

Deadwick’s is my all time favorite shop in Portsmouth. This store has everything witchy you may ever need. The energy in this store is amazing and they sell everything from crystals, herbs, potions, candles, jewelry, incense, and so much more!

Moonshine- Portsmouth, NH

Moonshine is a cute little gift shop right in the heart of Portsmouth. The shop has funky pens, sunglasses and candles; local artists designed prints, shirts, and sweatshirts; keychains, patches, and a great deal more.

The Drift Collective- Portsmouth, NH

The Drift Collective is a local store I have recently found. They sell the cutest upcycled clothing and accessories too!

Flower Kiosk- Portsmouth, NH

The Flower Kiosk is a local florist that sells bouquets, pots and adorable little plants. I love going here to pick out a new plant, and they will pot it and wrap it up all cute for you!

Mustard Seed Natural Living Center, Nottingham, NH

The Mustard Seed has all of your holistic and natural living needs. They have a huge selection of herbs, as well as crystals, holistic medicine, incense, essential oils, and more.

The following people I have listed are online shops that are owned by UNH students! I have purchased jewelry from all of them and absolutely love it!
