As spring semester unwinds, new friendships and new crushes are finally becoming a little more concrete. What’s a girl to do with all these cute boys who poke her on Facebook? Here’s some advice for girls considering taking their spring flings to the relationship level.

If you’re a freshman- Don’t. You may think you’re ready to settle down. You’ve had more than a semester of scandy hook ups, and are probably (hopefully) narrowing down your crushes to a select few. However, it’s not the best time to enter a relationship. Think back to freshman year of high school, could you see yourself dating any of the boys you had a crush on back then? Your taste in boys will soon develop to a taste in men as you continue to experience more college life. Unless you’ve found the love of your life, I say wait until next year and make your summer one you’ll never forget.
If you’re not a freshman- Do. You’ve had at least 3 semesters of meeting new boys, and if there’s one that makes you happy, it’s a perfect time to enter a relationship. Some people see summer as a time for hot hook ups when the sun goes down, but when the sun is up and you don’t have a boyfriend, you’ll be bored. There are many things that your girlfriends are good for in the summer, but when it comes to hot days at the beach, nothing’s better than having a cute boy to buy you ice cream.
If you’re bad at commitment- Don’t. Unless the boy you’re into lives super close to you or you love traveling, a whole summer apart won’t strengthen a new relationship. You’ll probably face more opportunities to cheat on him then you will to see him. It will be much easier to enter a relationship during the fall when you’re both close to each other on campus!

Obviously these scenarios will not hold true for everyone, ladies. If you meet a great guy and are ready to take on the commitment, go for it! Always make sure you’re at a time in your life when you can handle a new relationship. Otherwise you won’t be being fair to yourself, and your new boo!
