Hey y’all,
It’s already December, and us Spotify users know exactly what that means. Earlier this week the 2019 Spotify Recap was released to all premium members. Honestly, this is my first full year using Spotify, I used to be a downright Apple Music lover but college change that real quick. If you weren’t flipping through Instagram stories seeing what your friends all listened to, let me catch you up. So here is what I saw in the music world of 2019.
My top artist was Blackbear, which doesn’t surprise me…
My favorite artist right now killed it with Hot Girl Bummer which became the top hit for Bear this year reaching 100 million plays before the year ended. He also released another album, ANONYMOUS. Overall, great year for him.
Jason Aldean comes in second, and this year I also got to see him live.
Jason Aldean has been my all time favorite artist ever since I was a kid. I dreamed of seeing him in concert for the longest time, and this summer all my dreams came true.Jason released a new album this year as well, called 9. His top song for 2019 is still my favorite one, Dirt Road Anthem.
Khalid comes in third on the list. I mean who doesn’t love Khalid? I know I sure do. This year I listened to a lot of Free Spirit, and American Teen. But Khalid did release a new single called, Up All Night and did some collaborations with Billie Ellish and Ed Sheeran.
The fourth on the list surprises me a bit, because they aren’t my favorite group. Florida Georgia Line comes into play with a new album this year called Can’t Say I Ain’t Country. My favorite songs from that album, that I will admit to playing on repeat a few times are Talk You Out of It and Simple. Great group, great singers, just a little surprised they popped up on my 2019 wrapped list.
Well as they say, once a Swiftie. always a Swiftie. Taylor Swift pops up for my final artist on my top list. This was a big year for Taylor, yet another album released. Lover has some great singles to it as well, but I do have to say the old school Taylor Swift hits different. Seeing the Speak Now tour back in 2012, life changer.
Overall, it was a great year for all music artists. I can’t wait to see what 2020 has to offer. Without music, I know I, as well as others wouldn’t be able to get through some of life’s challenges, and even during the good times, it’s always good to throw on a good tune and jam out. Happy listening!
