When it comes to Nebraska Football, there is nothing more thrilling than being apart of the Big 10. School spirit is one of the many reasons students flock to the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Memorial stadium is always packed with fans awaiting the most anticipated game of the week, rain or shine. No wonder the University of Nebraska is known for it’s loyal fans and consecutive sellouts.

It’s not different when the Huskers go on the road. Recently, at last weeks game against Minnesota, students and fans drove to the University of Minnesota campus to watch the game. And what a game it was. There was red all over the Gophers stadium last Saturday during the game and it was a nice feeling knowing that I was apart of something so big.

The Gophers took the lead within the first quarter but by halftime the Huskers were winning by a fair amount. By the end of the game the Husker fans were cheering and hollering about the recent win against Minnesota and that it was an experience no Husker fan should have missed. The team played well that game and that was all that mattered. As fans and supporters, we needed a win to lift our spirits and for some of us, the drive worthwhile.

Although there were no fights that broke out amongst Gopher fans and Husker fans, there was some friendly banter here and there. University of Nebraska’s own Pi Kappa Psi fraternity even had their formal with the University of Minnesota’s Pi Kappa Psi fraternity. It was a harmonious mix of Minnesota fans and Husker fans coming together to enjoy themselves and meet new people in the process.

The Huskers had a great turn out this year while playing away. The University of Nebraska- Lincoln may be known for their unbreakable fan record at home games, but they sure do outshine the competition during away games as well.
