Three Stylish Ways to Avoid Getting Pinched On St. Patrick’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNL chapter.

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. It’s a day for me, where my friendships are tested because like most people, I a) don’t like to wear a lot of green and b) will kick you if you try to pinch me. Green can be a hard color to pull off, especially the shamrock green that seems to be everyone’s go to color on this holiday. Below I have some St. Patty’s Day attire ideas that will not only prevent you from kicking your friends and or being pinched but will hopefully inspire you to wear green more than once a year.

Wear your favorite shade

Just because it’s St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t mean you have to wear Kelly green. If you’re like me, perhaps forest are emerald green are more up your alley. Ignore the peer pressure and wear your favorite shade of green this year. Whether it’s lime or army green, the choice is solely up to you. Try pairing your go-to green top with some statement jeans or skirt, but keep it comfy for campus with some stylish sneakers.

Accessorize

Don’t have green? That’s okay! Avoid getting pinched by rocking some green nail polish or earrings. Another idea is to take a trip to your local vintage/ thrift store and find some festive pins to add to a denim jacket. These are all cost efficient alternatives that will have you covered for St. Patrick’s Days to come.

Embrace the holiday head on

The most important thing to do on any holiday is to have fun. If you want to proudly wear your “kiss me I’m Irish” shirt, please do, or any festive apparel for that matter. I paired this St. Patrick’s Day shirt with some essential spring pieces such as a floral bomber and denim skirt. If you have to hike around campus, feel free to substitute the booties for flats or sneakers, whatever you’re comfortable with. The most important thing is to love what you’re wearing, whether it’s green or not is ultimately up to you.
