Last weekend I had the chance to watch Timeflies, an electro-pop duo, perform at the Sokol Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska. I go to many concerts at the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska which is small comapred to the Sokol, so it was a nice change. I started listening to Timeflies last year so I was very excited to see them perform. My friend and I arrived at the concert around 6:15 p.m. and the show started at 7:00 p.m. The main singer, Cal had amazing vocals. Timeflies performed their popular songs such as “All The Way,” “I Choose You,” “Wild Ones,”SMFWU,” and “Monsters.” They also played some of their older songs including, “Turn It Up,”, “Under The Sea” and “For You.” I found it interesting that there were girls in elementary school at the concert considering alcohol was being served and Timeflies songs are not appropriate for that age group. In the middle of the concert, Cal asked the audience if they wanted him to freestyle and of course the audience said yes, so he did. On a screen, a link was shown where audience members could send in topics to freestyle about.” Some of the topics Cal freestyled about were Bo Pelini, the Kansas City Royals, Ameer Abdullah, and the college World Series. After the last song, the audience shouted for an encore and Timeflies returned for an acoustic version of the song, “All The Way.” I had a great time at the concert and can’t wait to see Hoodie Allen at the same venue in two weeks.
