With the Christmas season now in full swing, I’m sure we’ve all been working on that list of things that we would love to receive this Christmas. As exciting as it is to get that new pair of Lulu Lemons or the next biggest iPhone, I want to take this time to encourage you to consider what you can give this year, rather than receive. I don’t mean buy your gal pals jewelry or get your boyfriend the perfect present. I mean, consider what you can give to those who may not be as fortunate this Christmas season. Here are some ideas:
-Donate old jackets, winter clothing, and blankets for those who cannot afford to stay warm this season
-Bake some goodies to share with your community’s homeless population
-Donate to the Dressember Foundation to raise awareness for human trafficking at https://www.dressember.org/#
-Sing some socially-distant Christmas carols for the elderly in your community
-Drop your spare change into the Salvation Army bucket when you go to the store
-Adopt/sponsor a family in your community to provide them with gifts for Christmas
-Take part in the USPS’s Operation Santa and write letters to children all over the United States at https://www.uspsoperationsanta.com/letters
So as you listen to Mariah Carey’s Christmas album, decorate the tree, wrap presents, and make gingerbread houses, don’t forget to take some time to consider what you can give to those in need this holiday season.
