A Lazy Girl’s Guide to Looking Like You Tried

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

Waking up every morning to get ready for school is easily one of my least favorite things to do.

I usually have about 15 minutes to do an hour worth of getting ready (the snooze button, amirite?) and everything that can go wrong, does. My makeup won’t blend, my hair is too flat, and everything in my closet just fits a little weird. So I give up and resign to looking like a garbage bag. But, the time has come for me and YOU to leave our lackluster look in the past, without spending hours in the mirror. So here are some tips on how we can get glam without having to sacrifice our precious beauty sleep.

The Face

Just like I do, sometimes you wash your face and you’re feeling more “I’m ugly and I’m proud!” and less “I woke up like this, flawless!” These four products may be able to help.

BB/CC Cream – BB and CC creams are the makeup god’s gift to lazy girls. Both are lighter versions of foundation and they give you a nice healthy glow, but don’t cake up your skin or take a long time to apply. You’ll be dewy and fresh faced without all the actual effort.

Tinted Lip Balm – Don’t feel like going through your usual lip routine? Don’t! Grab your fave tinted lip balm, give it a few swipes, and get on your way! Tinted lip balms will moisturize your lips, give you a pop of color, and turn your chapped lips into a kissably smooth pout.

Mascara – Lashes are life. They make any day better and they’re all you need to take your look from drab to…not so drab. Pop on a coat or two and you’ll be looking wide awake in no time.

Blush – Bring some color into your face by brushing a little bit blush onto the apples of your cheeks. You’ll be instantly a little more fabulous.

The Hair

Hair is hard. It’s so easy to jump out of bed and thow your hair in a bun, but it’s time to try something a little bit more put together. Or at least try to try. So grab some dry shampoo and let’s get to stylin’!

Dutch Braid Bun – Want to do something a little nicer than your usual messy bun? Try the dutch braid bun! It’s a more time consuming than your average bun, but 10x more stylish.

High Pony – Regular low ponies are a drag, literally; they’re limp and floppy and snatch the pep right of your step! Instead embrace your inner cheerleader and give your pony some personality.

Half-Up, Half-Down – If you’re feeling fancy, but not that fancy, embrace your 2nd grade self and rock an old school half up-half down style. You can tease it, curl it, or even leave it straight, regardless you’ll have a super cute style with almost no effort.

Corner Cutting Curls – Gorgeous curls without all of the heat damage? Sounds like a lie but okay.

And for even more quick and heatless styles, take a look at this:

The Look

You’re at the homestretch! You can do it! Finish Strong!

LEGGINGS LEGGINGS! LEGGINGS! –  That’s it, end of story. Lazy days and leggings are perfect soulmates. They even go with absolutely everything! Dress them up with a great pair of sandals, a v-neck, a statement necklace, and a classic cardigan and you have a cute and comfy outfit for the day. Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!

Jeggings – If you like the idea of leggings but aren’t quite sold on their status as pants, then try jeggings! They’re leggings older, more sophisticated, sister. The ultra-skinny jean will match just about anything.

Maxi Dress/Skirt – Maxi anything is perfect for a lazy day outfit. They’re versatile, cute, and appropriate for any occasion! They also slip right on and people will be asking you all day who you’re all dressed up for.
