My body is my own
Nerves upon muscle upon bone
All put together to make me
The product of my mother’s work
A shelter for my worries and
An armory for my needs
I will do with it as I please
Whether that is to cover it in art
Or puncture it with diamonds
Or dye my hair the color of a sunset sky
It is mine
My body is not for you
Not for your hands to touch
Or your eyes to wander
Or for any disgusting thoughts in your head
Anything forced upon my body
Whether physical or mental
Is a crime done to me
Because I exist for no one but myself
I will not compromise myself for someone else’s wants
My body is a home
A pair of sharp eyes
A barking laugh
Sharp wit and a kind heart
A strong mind and even stronger will
It will not break under the pressure of others
So don’t try to tell me what I “must do”
I will do whatever I chose
Because my body is my own
