This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

Though 2016 was filled with amazing music, here are seven albums being released in 2017 that show great promise for this year in music.

1. The Orwells –Terrible Human Beings

Scheduled to be released on February 17, 2017, Terrible Human Beings is the third studio album by The Orwells, following 2014’s “Disgraceland.” The garage punk band has already released three singles prior to the release of the album.

Songs currently available:

“Buddy”

“They Put a Body in the Bayou”

“Double Feature”

2. Los Campesinos! – Sick Scenes

Sick Scenes, the sixth studio album released by Los Campesinos!, is scheduled to be released on February 24, 2017. The album was produced in Amarante, Portugal by the band’s guitarist Tom Campesinos! The band has already released two singles prior to the release of the album.

3. The Shins – Heartworms

4. Spoon – Hot Thoughts

Spoon’s ninth studio album since 2014’s They Want My Soul is scheduled to be released on March 17, 2017 and is titled Hot Thoughts. The American rock band has released one single thus far.

Songs currently available:

5. Arcade Fire

Arcade Fire band member Will Butler responded to a Reddit AMA in the summer of 2016 saying the released date of their fifth album could be in spring 2017. With secret shows and summer festival dates scheduled for this year, this prediction very well may hold true.

6. Gorillaz

With their recent social media presence, including interviews and multimedia narratives on twitter, one can guess that this virtual band is about to release an album. As of January 19, right before President Trump’s inauguration, the band released their first song in six years, a politically charged anthem titled “Hallelujah Money.”

7. LCD Soundsystem

Since releasing a new song in December 2015 and announcing their reunion in 2016, LCD Soundsystem has promised a new album on their band website. Since 2017, they have already announced their first show, making it safe to assume the new album is well on its way.
