FIVE MAKEUP TIPS FOR THIS HEAT
Classes have started, and we all know when it’s September that Hurricane season only brings us summer heat, even months after summer has passed. And, the only thing worse than summer heat is summer heat with double the humidity! Gotta love Puerto Rico, right?
But there’s always some of us who love to wear make up no matter what climate we have going on, and for my fellow makeup lovers out there, here is this article for you.
1. Good skin = good base = perfect canvas
Having a nice skin care routine can make the difference when applying your make up. Your skin is obviously the base for your makeup, so you want it to be as smooth and prepared as possible. Try washing your face daily, exfoliating regularly, and for these times always use a moisturizer that is oil-free and/or helps with oil control.
SkinActive Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream – $8.29
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel – $19.99
2. Prime that beautiful skin.
Whether you’re an experienced one in the makeup department or you’re just getting into this, it is important to know that you always have to prime your face before applying make up. Primers help keep your makeup in place, especially in this heat; you don’t want it smudging or budging. Again, oil-free/oil-control primers will be your bestest friends.
Becca Ever-Matte Priming Perfector – $36
Nyx Cosmetics Pore Filler – $14
L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base – $10.97
3. Too lazy to moisturize? We got you covered.
Not a fan of having clutter in your bathroom? You can always replace a moisturizer with a tinted moisturizer or even a BB Cream. These are foundations that have SPF in them or moisturizing oils that help give you that “no makeup, makeup look”, while still keeping your skin protected and flawless.
Dream Fresh BB Cream 8-In-1 Skin Perfector – $7.44
Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 35 – $42
COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-In-1 Foundation (concealer & primer) – $9.47
4. Set the beautiful down.
I have learned the hard way that moisturizing, priming, and a good foundation are nothing without a setting powder that locks everything into place. Powder is necessary for achieving that natural look but also for keeping it. There are two types of powders: translucent, which means it has no color, and ones you can match with your skin tone. Remember to match according to your complexion! Having powder in your purse with you, is a must so you can re-touch during the day.
NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Mineral “Set It & Don’t Fret It” Matte Finishing Powder – $9.99
E.l.f. High Definition Powder – $6
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – $38
5. Blot away your worries.
Last but not least: blotting papers. These will save your life, and your wallet, and even your grades. Blotting papers are sold by almost every makeup brand out there, and they will help you remove oil from your face, without smudging your makeup. Carry these along with the setting powder, and make sure to blot first and then reapply the powder!
P.S. Feel free to try everything waterproof: mascara, lipsticks, eyeliners, and more! Brands like NYX, Wet N’ Wild, L’Oreal and others sell good quality make up for a very low price.
Go to the beach, dance under the rain, and make people wonder how you keep your face so intact.
