As all traffic problems occur when we are going to work or on our way to class, it is necessary to have handy apps such as Google Traffic. Too bad it doesn’t work in Puerto Rico right? It can be frustrating because even though we prepare and we leave with just enough time, getting there seems to be a hastle with the intense traffic jams everywhere! I mean, it just throws off our entire schedule, and it’s annoying. Before road-raging and fixating on that car that doesn’t allow you to make progress, let me teach you two ways you can cheat traffic. We won’t break any hearts (or laws), I promise…
1. @TransitoPR on Twitter
Thankfully, I’ve figured out other ways to keep myself up-to-date with the constantly changing traffic situation. Before I leave home, I’ll (almost) always be sure to check @TransitoPR on Twitter. Twitter users can tweet what’s going on with a mention to @TransitoPR and the automated system will retweet to its followers. Make good use of it! Inappropriate tweeters will be banned (you have been warned).Â
2. Waze App
Recently, I discovered an app that works with user-created content called Waze. According to their website, Waze is managed by “other drivers in your area who share real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time and gas money on their daily commute.” With this app, you can pinpoint where there’s traffic, how heavy it is, where gas stations are, and much more! Its real-time content makes sure you know what’s going on as soon as it happens. It also works as a GPS so you can navigate around traffic easily, even if you don’t know the area very well.
Waze is available for the App Store and the Google Play Store.
