While looking fashionable might be the least of your concerns, trust me that owning your style according to your body type can boost your confident, attract that classroom crush you can’t stop talking about, or even receive a couple of compliments that will surely have you feeling empowered. And don’t sweat it, you’re not expected to dress like your going to the Academy Awards every day, but making the right adjustments here and there can really level up your style. Every person is unique and will want to achieve different goals when it comes to their wardrobe, but there are a couple of easy tips and tricks to keep in mind to achieve that dream look of yours. So, without further ado, here are 5 tips to look stylish in college that will make the university your runway.
Looking to enhance your waist? Follow these tips!
To accentuate your waist, you can make an array of adjustments to achieve that slimmer and broaden waist you want. First things first, get yourself a pair of high-waisted jeans (or skirts). You’re in luck, cause Gen-Z can’t seem to get enough of this jean trend! Trousers and skirts that sit high on your waist are the best to define this area. Also, while you’re at it: belt it up! To get a tiny-looking waist and achieve an hourglass silhouette, wear a belt that will literally scream: Here’s my waist! Try wearing it specifically above the naval and a few centimeters below the breasts. Lastly, try tying your shirts around your waist! A classic that will accentuate this area very well. Make sure your knot sits between the torso and the naval.
Own a pair of jeans that fit perfectly!
Think about those jeans you wear all the time and ask yourself: Do they fit you well? Do they give your booty a lift up and accentuate your waist or thigh lines? Or do they bag up in your rear and get a bit loose around your thighs? While they are so many type of jeans to choose from, make sure they fit you well and according to your body type. Having your jean staple is a must, so start evaluating!
Want the taller look? Check this out!
Tall, short, or middle height is all the same: you look beautiful in any way. But! If for whatever reason you want to look lengthier, you can start of by wearing vertical stripes (or column dressing) or monochromatic outfits. Both of these have the same expectation: You want a cohesive look that keeps the eye running up and down, enhancing your body’s length. Additionally, wearing nude-colored footwear is also recommended since it blends in with your skin and makes your legs appear longer. Also, remember those high-waited jeans? Yup, they also help to achieve the taller look: it’s a win-win.
Always accessorize!
Yes. (That’s it.) But, in all seriousness, accessories can really help tight an outfit together. Make sure you don’t over-accessorize though, just focus on the areas you would like to accentuate. We don’t want to sound like a rattling, fictional gypsy. A necklace, a ring, some earrings, and/or a bracelet here and there can really make the difference.
What if I’m only into athletic attire? We got you covered!
The official, fashion label is actually called: athleisure (athletic + leisure). We get that college life can get hectic and wearing cozy clothes it’s just the comfort we need during those times. But, in order to feel comfortable and confident at the same time, try out this trendy athleisure style. The key is to mix up oversized pieces with body-tight pieces. You can integrate sweatpants, leggings, or baggy pants with oversized sweatshirts or skin-tight tops, like cropped tanks or graphic sport bras. And while you’re at it, avoid busy patterns, and allow more natural colors, such as black, gray, and neutral tones.
At the end of the day, of course, fashion has no rules! Wear what makes you happy, and in the way that makes you feel this way. But if your goal was to appear a bit more stylish, I hope these fashion tips will want to make you cat walk all they way to your classes. Â
