With the holiday right around the corner, it’s time to get Valentine’s Day gifts for the book lover in your life. I can assure you these are professionally picked, since I’m a book lover myself. In other words, this is the list of gifts I’m giving to my bookish friends and family members and I’m letting all of you borrow it. You are very welcome!

You can always go for the obvious choice. BOOKS!

That being said, you should know what type of books the person likes and what books they already have. I don’t really recommend this gift choice unless you are 100% sure you know this person’s literary palate well enough. We all know what it’s like to receive a gift you don’t really love and then having to fake a smile and  “Oh gee thanks, this is great!” your way out of the situation. It just ends up being awkward for everyone. A great way to evade this is to follow them on Goodreads, their bookstagram or whichever platform they use to keep track of their reading.

Bookmarks

Gifts don’t have to be expensive. A little bookmark that lets us know you thought of us is enough. I also recommend you know what they like. This way, you can customize it to a book series, book significant others (we have many of those) or just themed decorations with a literary motif they would like. Bonus points if it’s handmade!

Personalized book stamps

it sounds more expensive than what it actually is. You can find some online that are budget friendly, for as low as $12! It’s a very special gift for those book hoarders out there that want to keep tracks of their books in a unique, fun way.

Scratch off posters

These posters normally consist of a “top 100 books” grid of any literary genre. You can choose classics, horror, romance, or any other genre your loved one is into. Trust me, they will have an amazing time scratching and reading. I think this gift is really creative and especially fun for the reader. Think about itーevery single title scratch would represent an adventure all on its own.

Reading journal

If there’s one thing to know about readers is that we will forget what we just read. Immediately. It’s not our fault, but that’s just how it works! We need to make space for all future reads somehow. An amazing way I can keep track of what I’m reading is by using a journal. These specific journals include a fillable rating system, and a space to take notes about the book, its characters, the plot, your favorite quotes, and any other detail you’d like to write down. There’s so many different styles and they all have their little quirks. For example, I have one that allows me to put what other book from said author I would like to read.

Creative bookish decorations

There’s so many adorable decorations out there that are perfect for book lovers! You can consider getting them gifts like book-shaped vases, bookish posters, classic literature rocks glass, or book nook kits, which are my favorite. You can even plan a date and decorate each other’s bookshelves. Everybody wins in book nation!
