Beauty queens can seem superficial sometimes, but not this girl. In 2011, she was the Isle of Enchantment’s second representative in a pageant that had no Puerto Rican participation for years. She took that as a responsibility and made it her passion. She’s Miss America Puerto Rico’s Outstanding Teen 2011, a pageant known for their activeness in the Children’s Miracle Network program and their afinity towards girls who are scholars.  Apart from the obvious beauty, this gal is driven and passionate. Not only is she fearless on a runway, she’s also marvelous on a stage: a total double threat.

I present to you: Aylín Torres.

Name: Aylín Marí Torres

Age: 18

Hometown: Bayamón

Classification: Freshman

Major: Audiovisual Communications

1. HCUPR:  You were the second representative of Puerto Rico in the MAOT pageant, how was that experience?

Aylín: The feeling that you are representing your country can’t be compared, but it’s even better to know that you are making history and that in a few years girls will look up to you because, like they always say, the hardest thing is to start.

2. HCUPR: Tell us something not many people know about you.

Aylín: Well I’m pretty much an open book, but some people probably don’t know that after a hard battle with a brain tumor, I lost my sister last year and we were like twins even though we had a huge age difference.

3. HCUPR: Who is your inspiration and why?

Aylín: Usually I don’t feel inspired in anyone, but a short time ago my sister inspired me to be happier and genuinely enjoy life because it could be shorter than you think.

4. HCUPR: If you could relive something again, what would it be?

Aylín: I would relive every single minute my family and I spent together in our worst situation, because thats when we were happier.

5. HCUPR: When did your passion for dancing begin?

Aylín: My passion for dancing began at an early age, as long as I can remember I’ve been involved in many activities and I look forward to continue learning and acquiring experience in the dance field.

6.HCUPR: What are your goals?

Aylín: My goals include becoming a professional in the Communications industry and instead of planning everything in my life my goal is to take advantage of every opportunity that comes.

7. HCUPR: Describe yourself in 3 words.

Aylín: Strong, honest, compassionate.
