Come join me by falling down the rabbit hole of endless book recommendations. I’ve spent so many hours watching amazing women talk about anything concerning books. I hope you enjoy this list of a few of my favorite booktubers. Disclaimer, the booktubing ladies aren’t listed in any particular order. Now strap along and give your credit card a kiss because it’s going to be working hard.

  1. Carley Thorne (uncarley)

The one and only gaslighting, gatekeeping, girl boss. Carley is a student and comedian from Canada. She mostly reads contemporary fiction and whatever book X celebrity is seen holding on the street. Her celebrity book club videos are my favorite, considering she mostly roasts the book or is surprised at how much she likes a book, obviously all in good fun.

  1. Emma Angeline (Sarcastic Fish)

Emma is a Film Student, and a Comparative Literature graduate from London. Emma mostly reads classics, but she is very passionate about books  that talk about women, feminism, female pleasure, female sexuality, etc. She is very well-read, and I love watching her videos because I always feel that I’ve learned something new. Her videos and her critics can be very impactful if you’re up for the ride.

  1. Dakota Warren

Dakota is from Melbourne, Australia. She studies Literature and Creative Writing. I found her when her “10 *actually good* classic literature books for *actual* beginners” video was recommended to me. From the first time I saw Dakota, I found her very unlike any other YouTuber I had encountered. To me, she embodies femininity and dark academia. Although she reads classics, you can discover peculiar and maybe not well-known book suggestions, which is always good to diversify your shelves. If you’re longing to buy a book, perhaps give her debut poetry and prose collection, “On Sun Swallowing.”

  1. CarolynMarieReads

Carolyn is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology. She studied Fine Arts in Illustration and English with a concentration in Writing. She adores classics and Gilmore Girls and she’s also one of the minds behind “The Dickens vs Tolstoy” book club. Another book club she belongs to is “The Dark Academics” book club. You can find coziness, beautiful illustrations and inspirations to read big classics like “Anna Karenina” and “War and Peace.” Her bookshelves are beautiful and she decorates them with her own art, which you can find in her Etsy shop if you’re interested in author portraits.

  1. * e m m i e *

Emma is an English Lit and Classical Studies student. You can find a variety of videos on her channel, such as reading vlogs, book hauls, life and university experiences, visiting Little Libraries and much more. Emmie is the other half of the “Tolstoy vs Dickens” book club and also is part of the “The Dark Academics Book Club.” She reads classics, contemporary literature, manga, etc. In some of her videos, she talks about reading a book from various countries, so you’ll for sure find a new book recommendation.

  1. withcindy

I’m fairly new to the Cindy universe. I found her channel not long ago, and all I can say is I laughed so much. I didn’t think one could laugh at someone analyzing and dissecting books, but Cindy made me do it. Her most read genres are contemporary, romance and YA. If you want a book review without sugar coating it and have a good laugh out of it, go to Cindy’s channel.

  1. Allisonpaiges

Allison is a Philosophy student in Belgium. She reads contemporary fiction and non-fiction books. The majority of her content is book commentary, but she’s also not afraid to get vulnerable in her vlogs. At the age of 26, she applied to college and in her vlogs, she shares what any of us feel from time to time. We get an insight into what it’s like to deal with stress, depression and other people’s expectations. Nonetheless, her videos can feel like a warm hug.

  1. Mary Among Stories

Mary is a ray of sunshine. She loves Disney princesses and classics. The words she uses to describe books are like tiny kisses on your forehead. You’re interested in book clubs? She’s part of “The Dark Academics,” “Brontëlong,” “Reading Sprints” and “Fellowship of the Read-Along.”

  1. Sally Thames

I found her channel not so long ago, and I’ve been loving every minute of it. Sally does book commentaries, reading vlogs and interesting reading challenges. For example, she has videos in which she reads like Rory Gilmore and Jess Mariano.

All these talented ladies can expose you to very diverse literature. Although some of they “overlap” content-wise, they all bring their own twist and taste to it.

Alejandra Negrón Rodríguez is a writer and Events Director at Her Campus at UPR. She manages all chapter events, prioritizing in coordinating and organizing for a range of successful and fun activities. She mostly writes culture and entertainment articles, but as an avid reader, her favorite one’s are book reviews. She is a senior at the University of Puerto Rico, majoring in Political Science with a minor in French. At Her Campus, writing became a muse for her, because she can transform her interests into works for others to enjoy. When she’s not writing, Alejandra reads books or buys them (ask her overwhelming mountain of unread books). Alejandra also loves learning new languages, crocheting, and spending time with her friends.
