El regreso triunfal de los CAAMpeones

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPRM chapter.

Last Monday evening, Los Tarzanes and Las Juanas  sealed their second victory for the LAI 2015 season with steady wins against Los Toritos and Toritas from UPRC (Univeristy of Puerto Rico, Cayey). Las Juanas played first, winning three consecutive sets comfortably. Soon after, Los Tarzanes followed, also with a three consecutive set victory.

Selfies, snapchats, Twitter trends and hundreds of green shirts created huge expectation among the presents, for el regreso de los CAAMpeones. Once the Tarzanes set foot on the court, the Colegial crowd went mad, cheering excited El Colegio nonstop. They presented the trophy won at the XV Juegos Deportivos Universitarios ’15, and dedicated their gold to Israel García, better known as the father of volleyball in Puerto Rico, who passed away in 2011. Then the game kicked-off, but they weren’t doing as well as expected. Yet, the fanaticada never lost the faith in our team, as they kept cheering them up with Colegio súbete. Once the team’s captain Orlando Delgado, #17, stepped in, it was a game changer. They took control and played to impress, in front of a crowd that packed the Mangual to support our CAAMpeones.

The night’s MVP was Luis Ocasio, #2, a freshman who had the most beautiful first game he could ever imagine, “The Colegio fanaticada made this night unforgettable!” Also, Delgado, shared his thoughts on the game, “I think we can perform a lot better than what we did tonight, but we are still warming up to each other (the rookies). We have what it takes to make it to the final and keep the trophy en casa. We owe that to the fanaticada for their unconditional support.”

The next game of will be on Tuesday, October 6, against Los Tiburones of UPRA (University of Puerto Rico, Aguadilla). Thank you for a beautiful performance, CAAMpeones!
