Songs That Saved My Life is a compilation of song covers with the goal of creating mental health and suicide awareness and benefiting charities with the same goal.

Their Mission

“Songs That Saved My Life is a brand centered around music that played a pivotal role in the lives of artists and fans that benefits mental health and suicide prevention charities. Everyone has music that helped them through a tough time. Songs That Saved My Life looks to engage current artists with cover versions of those songs and share those stories with the world.”

The concept of this music compilation is just that: a way for artists, who have experienced any type of mental health disorder (depression, anxiety, etc.), to have a place to show the world what songs helped them through a difficult time and benefit organizations with the same goal at the same time.

The project is backed by various artists, mainly from rock and pop-punk bands. Among these artists are: The Maine, Dance Gavin Dance, Neck Deep, As It Is, and more. They each provide their own story and the reason they chose each song to cover.

The Outcome

The proceeds of this compilation go to four different charities that all strive to create awareness on suicide and mental health.

Share Your Story

You can get involved on the project’s website, where you can share your own story and a song that helped you.

In light of Suicide Awareness Week, we will provide our readers with articles displaying narratives of thought, self-reflection, and the reality of the emotions, actions, and struggles we face as students but don’t often discuss. If you or a loved one are going through a difficult time, you’re not alone.
