We all go home for the weekend every once in a while, leaving our colleges behind for a queen size bed, homemade food, and no roommates.
1. “I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE MAX.” No, Max is not my boyfriend…he’s my dog. The best part of being home for the weekend is getting to see your best friend — aka your pet.
2. “Wow, I forgot what it was like to shower without flip flops on.” Showering in college is the ultimate struggle… at home showers meant staying in there for 30 minutes at a time, singing to Drake, and not worrying about foot fungus. I swear, taking that first shower at home in months feels like stepping into heaven.Â
3. “Is that homemade food I smell??” You don’t remember what it’s like to eat something not pre-made. Sure, the dining halls aren’t horrible, but nothing will beat your mom’s mac n cheese.
4. “Maybe I should hangout with someone?” After thinking this. you realize you literally have zero home-friends. Either everyone you went to high school with has become a moron or they’ve fallen off the face of the planet.
5. “What if I see someone I know in public?” This is a tough one, if you see that guy you drunkenly made out with junior year at prom, the best decision is to run completely in the opposite direction.
6. “Netflix is my best friend.” Since you don’t have any friends, it looks like watching 6 straight hours of Grey’s Anatomy and eating a whole row of Oreos will be your best bet.
7. “It’s 3am and I need a calzone.” I’m assuming that you’ll still be watching Netflix at 3am, so you’re gonna get some cravings. When you’re hungry late at night at URI, all you have to do is call I-Zone and they’ll deliver right to your dorm. Why can’t I-Zone be everywhere? Their buffalo chicken calzone is reason enough never to leave campus.
8. “I wonder what everyone at school is doing?” I don’t know about you, but when I’m bored I live vicariously through my friends Snapchat stories and Instagram posts. Being home is nice, but when you’re sitting on your couch on a Saturday night, you start to regret not going to that party.
9. “Oh yeah…I have a test Monday.” You told yourself you were going home to study every day…it’s Sunday morning and you haven’t touched your bag.
10. “IT’S FINALLY SUNDAY” You’re jumping for joy (in your mind) to be going back to school today. You may have binge-watched Netflix, ate way too many calories, jealously watched Snapchat stories, and did none of the homework you were supposed to, but it made you appreciate home even more.Â
11. “Tomorrow is Monday!?” Enough said.
