Since my senior year of high school, thanks to one of my good guy friends, I became into a different genre of music. I have no idea what genre they all fall under, but I know for sure it is not my normal “Today’s Top Hits/Pop Favorites.” I would say some of them would be Indie Pop or Alternative Rock. I could be totally wrong but that’s what I would think. The following songs are what you most likely would never hear on the normal radio stations, but definitely deserve a listen, especially when we are all stuck inside with nothing else to do these days.Â
- “10,000 Emerald Pools” by Børns

This song really hits a nerve for me, in a good way! It gets me swaying. I have a certain memory I associate this song with, so it reminds me of that time and makes me happy.Â
- ‘Little More Time” by Ciaran LaveryÂ

This is one song that I found on the “New Friday Music” playlists of Spotify almost four years ago. It lives in my Sad Day playlist… really gets me in the feels sometimes.Â
- “Dorian” by Agnes ObelÂ

I am honestly surprised about how I came to like this song. It is nothing like I usually listen to, but again, it lives in my Sad Day playlist for days where I just want to be sad and maybe cry just because we all need to sometimes!Â
- “Oblivion” by BastilleÂ

My favorite band. They have been my go-to music since my sophomore year of high school, through good times and bad. This song happens to remind me of a sad time in my life, but that’s okay. It reminds me of how far I have come. Like the rest of the songs, it lives on my Sad Day playlist. I promise this isn’t a plug for it but, hey, take a listen if you’re bored!
- “Golf on TV” by Lennon Stella featuring JP SaxeÂ

A new song that came out this year compared to the rest in this article, which are pretty old. I found it on the “Fresh and Chill” Spotify playlist. It is really catchy and unique. Even though parts of it are slow, you can still catch me belting the chorus in the car.Â
I hope you take a listen to some of these songs and enjoy! But seriously, take a listen to songs out of your comfort zone. You’ll never know what you might find…Â
