This week, you definitely will want to know about our campus celebrity, Diego Guevara.
This smart, talented, multilingual, and insanely handsome man is studying theatre, here at URI. He has also been a part of more than five Hollywood film and television projects! Did I forget to mention that he is only a junior?Â
Guevara’s work at URI is only a small piece of his amazing accomplishments. During his freshman year, he played Boy in “Much Ado About Nothing.”
In his sophomore year, he competed in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Irene Ryan Acting Competition and successfully made it to the semi-final round…impressive, right?! Later that same year, he played the lead male dancer in URI’s production, Chicago.Â
This year, he starred as Princeton in URI’s production of Avenue Q, leading him to receive a nomination for musical theatre excellence.
Guevara’s rise to stardom does not only take place at URI.Â
“I have been an extra for films that star Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Emma Stone, and Joaquin Phoenix,” said Guevara.  He also notes that he has been a featured extra in the HBO show The Newsroom, and NBC’s Odyssey.
This past winter, Diego returned to KCACTF and competed in the acting and musical theatre category.Â
Dying to see Mr. Guevara on stage? You’re in luck! He is currently playing the part of Chris Keller in one of America’s greatest playwrights, All My Sons, by Arthur Miller. This play will be opening February 19th at the URI Fine Arts Center. Break a leg, Diego!
