My Favorite Songs From “Evermore” by Taylor Swift

Over the winter break, Taylor Swift released yet another surprise album called “evermore”. In my opinion “evermore” is better than “folklore”. I don’t think I have cried this much listening to an album before. I am a huge Swiftie fan so I just had to put together a list of my top five favorite songs from least to most favorite. 

5. “marjorie”

When I first heard this song I was in a puddle of tears. I had to take a break from listening to the rest of the album. This song is absolutely beautiful and reminds me of my great grandparents. It is definitely not for casual listening but it’s perfect for when you want to feel all your feelings.

Favorite line: “I should’ve asked you questions, I should’ve asked you how to be.”

4. “happiness”

This song does not get the love it deserves. I cried when I heard it. The idea of appreciating the good parts of a failed relationship while also acknowledging that you will experience happiness again is too much for my heart to handle.

Favorite line: “All you want from me now is the green light of forgiveness. You haven’t met the new me yet, and I think she’ll give you that.”

3. “long story short”

This song originally was towards the bottom of my list but it grew on me. I find myself always playing this song in the car. I just really love the idea that even though you might be going through a rough time, things will always work out in the end.

Favorite line: “And he’s passing by, rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky.”

2. “champagne problems”

This is a fan favorite and for good reason. The storytelling in this song is amazing. Don’t even get me started on the bridge. I literally scream it at the top of my lungs in the car. Also, this song just screams Rory and Logan from Gilmore Girls. 

Favorite line: “Sometimes you just don’t know the answer ‘til someone’s on their knees and asks you.”

1. “gold rush”

As soon as I heard this song I knew it would be my favorite. I know a lot of people rank this low on their lists and I don’t understand how. I think this song is so relatable because I, like most girls, daydream about boys that everyone loves and have to snap out of it. Anything that Jack Antonoff touches turns into gold (no pun intended). 

Favorite line: “My mind turns your life into folklore, I can’t dare to dream about you anymore.”
