This stylish Connecticut girl is a TMD major with an incredibly bright future. Everyone meet this week’s Campus Cutie, Rachel Graves!
This senior and ZTA sister has had two high profile internships with major fashion brands Erin Featherston and DKNY. This summer with DKNY she was in meetings with the CEO and Vice President when they viewed the new collections. She also dressed models backstage at the runway show! After graduating early in December, Rachel plans to move to New York City and work full-time with DKNY.
Rachel studied abroad last spring semester in Florence, Italy. It was Rachel’s first time on a plane and her favorite thing about studying abroad turned out to be traveling to different countries all around Europe.
“It taught me to be more independent and face my fears. I was way out of my comfort zone and doing everything all by myself. It was a really great experience overall.”
With four years of high school cross country and track behind her, you could previously spot Rachel running around campus almost every day. Now that she lives off campus she chooses to jog along the sea wall on Ocean rd.
Rachel’s advice to underclassman looking to get high-profile fashion internships: “You need to be willing to do anything that is asked of you, even if it is beyond your skill set. It also helps to know people who are connected to the industry because networking is key!” Rachel also says to be persistent because she applied to almost 30 internships the first summer before working with Erin Featherston.
