To all the seniors that are in the same boat and even the underclassmen, your time will come. We spend 4 years working our asses off and just when we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, it’s time to start working towards the next phase of our young adult lives. If you have the luxury to transition right in to grad school, then I envy you for having your life together. But if you’re like me and you need to GTFO of Rhode Island to follow your dreams, then don’t worry, you’re not alone and you’re (probably) not crazy.
To all my people applying to grad school this here, here are some thoughts that might be going through your head.
Well I definitely need to live in the city while I’m young so that narrows down location.
Minimum GPA is 3.5? I really should be studying for my exam instead of filling out this app.
Leadership experience? Uhh does remembering to call an Uber for my friends before the bar closes count?
Personal statement: “I’m just trying to be an adult, please accept me”
Totally forgot to sign up for the GRE’s. How’s next Monday?
The GRE costs WHAT? I guess I can live off of frozen waffles for the next few weeks.
Mmm waffles, now I’m hungry.
Masters in Viticulture and Enology (graduate study for grapes and wine) I think I have found my life purpose.
This program is two full years, have the past four years meant nothing to you??
I bet Kendall Jenner isn’t sitting in her apartment filling out this app right now.
Two letters of recommendation? I can’t think of two people that even consistently like me.
Wait a sec… I don’t even know if I’m going to get in to this school and I’m already paying them hundreds of dollars?
Do I really have to write these essays or are they, like, extra credit?
I wonder how many things I can add to my resume before they will know I’m lying?
*Click submit button* I’m so happy right now but am I really leaving my undergrad life behind?
