Tips to Stay Motivated at the End of the Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

Spring has sprung which means in just a few weeks the semester will be over. Students will finally have time off to enjoy the nice weather, make money and finally be able to catch up on some much-needed rest. With deadlines quickly approaching and the start of summer plan-making beginning, how does one stay motivated to finish the semester? Here are some tips to stay on track:

Make a to-do list:

I find that making a to-do list helps me stay on track. Organize the to-do list based on priority such as deadlines or exam dates. This will allow you to focus on the more important things before the others. Make sure you are truthful in how you prioritize things, you’ll only be hurting yourself

Get Ahead:

Even though you may not have exams until finals week, you can start preparing now. I know it is hard when the weather is nice to study for something that is so far away but it will help you in the long-run. Getting ahead will ease the stress of finals week and any other deadlines that you may have

Plan your homework time to be between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. I know this is hard for those who are procrastinators but I have recently started doing this and I have found myself to get so much more done. This also allows you to be able to still do fun things over the weekends as well as catching some sleep!

Check your grades:

This tip could help but also hurt your motivation. Calculating your grades at this point in the semester allows you to focus in on what courses you need to improve your scores in. This will help you when making your to-do list because if you are doing really well in Biology that you have a test in but doing poorly in statistics that you have a project due in, you can focus more on the stats project!

The end of the semester is tough cross-roads between needing to stay motivated while also focusing on summer! Use these tips to help finish out the semester strong!!
