Here at URI, we are constantly reminded of our school’s motto: Think Big, We Do. These four words fit into everything our students and staff accomplish, from a study abroad trip to a Rhody victory, we are a campus composed of big thinkers.
We go off to college expecting that the classes we take will prepare us for a successful future. I’m not quite sure if there is a perfectly good explanation for why each of these classes are necessary but I do know if you’re looking for a thrill here are your next electives:
AFS 270: Basic Scuba Diving in Science and Technology
I’m sure scuba diving is a very important skill to have in the job world. And just incase you were looking for a resume builder an Open Water Diver Certification by the National Association of Underwater Instructors is provided.
APG 413: Peoples of the Sea
I can’t be only one thinking this class is all about mermaids. I’ve seen Aquamarine, I know they exist.
BPS 352: Personal Cosmetics
Don’t take my word for it but this sounds like a class based around a make your own lip gloss kit.
GEO 102: Evolution and Extinction of the Dinosaurs
Do you have a secret love for Jurassic Park and need another natural science gen ed? If you’ve answered yes to either of these questions that GEO 102 here you come.
HIS 361 Women’s Lives in New England, 1790‐1930
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for feminism and girl power but a class based on the life of women in New England seems to be just a bit too specific.
KIN 210 Beginner Sailing
You’re telling me while I sit in Ballentine listening to a lecture about retained earnings there are students out sailing around the bay.
KIN 215B or C Individual Sports: Badminton or Bowling
Ok now I’m really starting to think I chose the wrong major..
KIN 322 Outdoor Leisure Pursuits
Who doesn’t love outdoor leisure pursuits?
PLS 311: Fruit Culture
Of course there must be alot more to this class than the name makes it sound but come on, fruit culture?
PSY 430: Intimate Relationship
Because the first thing college students need is a class that teaches them how to have an intimate relationship.
TMD 513: Detergency
Is there really enough information on washing clothes to fill an entire semester. I’ve seen all of the commercials for tide 2 go, isn’t that enough?
So I know I’m not an advisor and I don’t have the authority to suggest any classes to you but I think we all know what electives we will be taking next semester. Good luck this fall colliegettes!
