You Know Spring Has Sprung at URI When…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the snow has finally thawed. With only about 3 weeks left until finals, we have our fingers crossed that the weather will only get warmer from here. Besides the fact that it’s still bright out after 7 PM, there are a few more signs that the equinox is officially upon us.

1. Frisbees fill the quad.

2. Guys wear shorts (even when the temp drops).

3. Every other girl wears Hunter boots.

4. Brickley’s is FINALLY open.

5. Rain is on the forecast for at least five days of the week.

6. The rule for white jeans after Labor Day has been sadly forgotten. (Don’t be that guy…)

7. Premature wearing of sandals on the first 50 degree day.

8. No treadmills open at the gym. #Beachbody.

9. The brothers of Fiji fraternity spends the afternoon tossing footballs and blasting music on their lawn.

10. You fear for your life as you hear a skateboard getting closer and closer to you.

11. One word: darties.

12. The motivation to study and do work is at a bare minimum.

13. You receive less “bored in class,” more “at the beach” snapchats.

14. Guys in pastels. Everywhere.

15. Iggy’s turning us all into human doughboys.

16. Iced coffee is once again every girl’s must-have accessory.

17. No more puffy coats… Bittersweet.

18. The RIPTA is gradually less crowded because people actually make the trek from Plains Lot.

19. Snowboarding is out and surfing is in.

Happy spring collegiettes, we made it!
