Whether or not you care to admit that you were born and raised in the Constitution State, I think we can all agree we have been pretty blessed. As the 5th state in this beautiful country, us Connecticuters have pretty much been paving the way for the rest of the US forever. There’s something bittersweet about growing up in the third smallest state, whether or not you chose to stay. How does that saying go: you can take the girl out of Connecticut but you can’t take the Connecticut out of the girl?
Either way, here’s some of the s#!t only us CT people understand…
- Still using the first grade trick of saying “Connect – I – Cut” when you need to write it out
- Country concerts in Hartford were arguably some of the best nights of your life
- Most of your graduating class ended up at Southern, Central or UCONN
- Knowing at least one adult that works at Sikorsky or Pratt & Whitney
- You consider yourself a solid driver
- The amount of parties you’ve attended in the woods is shameful
- Living anywhere is Southern CT is grounds for saying you live in Fairfield
- You probably won’t argue with anyone who tells you CT sucks
- Whether with your Dad or your guy friends, you’ve definitely been fishing
- You can’t help going anywhere without bumping into at least one person you know
- The Warrens came to your high school before The Conjuring made them cool
- Of course, you have seen Dave Mathews live
- You played at least two sports growing up
- The Mystic Aquarium is nothing special
- Every field trip you ever had was historical
- The term “beach” is used very lightly
- You’re used to people shouting your area code *203*
- The Sound looks much better on Google
- Pepe’s is #1
- Fall holds a special place in your heart
- You can throw a rock from your back porch and hit at least one Dunkin
- Lake Compounce was your go-to
- “The City” only has one meaning for you
- You don’t know how to get anywhere without the Merritt or 95
- You have vowed to never be stuck living in CT again
