Houses for Change at USC

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USC chapter.

Ever wanted to give back to the homeless community in Los Angeles in a creative way?  Here’s your chance.  The University of Southern California has had the amazing opportunity to become the first college campus to run a Houses for Change campaign.  Houses for Change is a national project that raises awareness for homelessness and in doing so, raises money for low-income families.  Houses for Change helps promote the mission of Family Promise™, which is a nonprofit organization looking to mobilize communities in order to help the homeless and those with low-income households.

The process for getting involved is simple.  All you have to do is decorate a box with markers, paint, stickers, and so forth to make your box look like a little house.  Then, take the box home and collect loose change until a date that is set by the participating organization, which in this case would be USC.  At that time, you’ll turn the little house in to the determined location and will have combat hunger and homelessness in Los Angeles.

Help USC raise awareness for the less fortunate by getting involved with this great campaign.

After crawling around Honolulu, Hawaii as a toddler, exploring various cultures in Singapore as an elementary schooler, and roaming the exciting streets of Seoul, Korea as a teenager, Nicole finally made her way to the University of Southern California. Currently a junior Communication major, she's still trying to figure out what exactly it is she wants to do, but is looking to someday be involved with a career that will allow her to incorporate her love for writing, fashion, and the entertainment business. In her downtime, she loves to read blogs, eat sweets, embrace her inner shopaholic, watch movies, swoon over Mad Men, and laugh it up with her friends.
